Hello! My name is Heidi Hennigan Cohen! I look forward to meeting you! I hope that we can set a time for a free “Meet and Greet” to get to know each other. Before we do, I thought I would mention a few things that are unique about homebirth midwifery care.

First of all, I am so excited to share the journey with a family when they start care with Aspen Roots Midwifery. Midwifery care is not just coming in and doing a quick set of vitals and listening to the baby, it is so much more! Our appointments are structured so we can have time to learn about your options in pregnancy, birth, and beyond.

  At Aspen Roots Midwifery we:

  • Create space to get to know you as an individual.

  • Support families having an active and responsible role in their midwifery care.

  • Offer education and clinical assessment so you feel confident in your own choices.

  • We ask families to take an active role in their prenatal, birth, and postpartum care:

    •  This means they have taken or are willing to take childbirth education so they understand what to expect during labor and birth. (We know of some virtual options!)

    • To learn and consider the subjects we discuss during care.

    • They are willing to make their nutrition their priority! (80-100 grams of protein, good calories (veggies/fruits/good grains), and eating good salt (learn more about Eating Well). Eating well helps promote a healthy pregnancy and risks.

    • They understand the importance of communication with their midwife and making joint decisions together to promote the best options in care.

If you are willing to prepare for an unmedicated birth and are willing to take active responsibility in your home birth care then exploring out-of-hospital options is a great idea for you! Talking to me is free and I am more than happy to answer any questions you have and discuss how I can support you with home birth midwifery care. Please go through the Risk Assessment (link below) to see if you are considered “Low-Risk” by Colorado State Law.

IF you do feel that home birth is a good option for you, contact us to set up a free “Meet and Greet”.

Certified Professional Midwives are considered out of network with insurance providers. This means that you are responsible for the cost of care before baby is born. (usually paid monthly and due by 32 weeks of care). After care has been completed (6-8 weeks postpartum), we can submit to your insurance for possible reimbursement. Checking your insurance before care starts give you an idea if you qualify for insurance reimbursement.

Certified Professional Midwives are NOT covered by Colorado Medicaid/CHP, Kaiser or Tricare.

We do offer financing through United Credit. Before applying, Please tell your midwife that you are wanting to use United Credit and we will create an estimated cost of care statement.
